Obituary

Verla Frances Brace, age 70, of 25207 N. E. Brunner Road, Camas, died on Saturday, April 13, at St. Joseph Community Hospital in Vancouver.

She was born on May 27, 1914, in Portland, Ore., and had lived in this area since 1947.  She had worked as a clerk for the Coronet Stores and for Fred Meyer.  She loved to knit for her grandchildren, loved gardening and house plants and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  She was a member of the Fern Prairie Grange and the Camas Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard “Barney” of Camas; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gloryann Brace of Clatskanie, Ore.; three grandchildren, Keith, Brian, and Cheryl Brace; and two great grandsons, Stephen and Aharon Douglas Brace; and two brother, Robert and Thomas Rommel, both of Portland.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 16, at Straub’s Funeral Home with Chaplain Robert Kunz officiating.  The service was preceded by cremation.  Those who wish may make remembrances to the Washington Lung Association, 216 Broadway E., Seattle, WA 98102.
