Washougal Deer Hunter is Killed

Cecil B. Brown, 35, of route 2, Washougal, was killed instantly Sunday afternoon while deer hunting with his 15 year old son.  Mr. Brown slipped as he was climbing over a log on Bear Mountain, and his gun accidentally discharged, sending a bullet through his left cheek.

The body was carried three miles through the heavy undergrowth by State Patrolman Vogel, who was called there to investigate.  Dick Huycke, chief of the Camas fire department, assisted him.  The body was brought to Swank’s Funeral Home, where services were conducted Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. George Poor.  Interment was in the Camas cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born in Colorado March 6, 1910 and was employed as a painter in the Vancouver Kaiser shipyards.  He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, four sons, Cecil, Rufus, Glen and Robert, his father, Rufus Sr., Stockton, Calif., and two brothers, Clifford and Rufus, who live in California.
