Bernice E. Cisney – Camas

Bernice Elizabeth Cisney, a housewife and longtime member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Camas, died of cancer Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Vancouver.  She was 77.

Mrs. Cisney, whose maiden name was Davis, was born May 4, 1926, in Emmett, Idaho, and lived in Camas for 53 years.

She was an active member of the Jacks and Jills and Dates and Mates square-dance clubs and also a pinochle club.

An active ecologist and avid Garrison Keillor fan, she enjoyed walking and had participated in The Race for the Cure.  She also enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners, hiking, camping and picking huckleberries.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Merle E., at home; two daughters, Karen Cisney of Taipei, Taiwan, and Beth Filion of Camas; one son, Bob of Camas; two sisters, Charlotte Young of Emmett and Coleen O’Banion of Tustin, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas.  Davies Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
