GEORGE WALTER CONNER
George Walter Conner, of Camas, passed away April 23, 2008 in Vancouver at the age of 78.  

He was born July 13, 1929 in Camas where he was raised.  George started working at the paper mill at an early age and joined the Navy when he was 17.  After the service he returned to Camas and continued working at the mill as an electrician.  George married Leona Nichols in 1955 and made Camas their home.  After more than 40 years of service he retired from the mill.  George enjoyed bowling, fishing, trips to Reno and playing Keno.  

He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #2362 and Eagles Lodge #2236 both in Ocean Park, WA.

Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, Steve.

Survivors include his wife, Leona, at home; sons, Larry of Vancouver, Danny and Terry both of Washougal; brother Dennis of Long Beach, WA; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of George’s life will be Friday, May 2 at 11:00 AM at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas.  Inurnment will be at the Fern Prairie Cemetery.
