PASSENGER ENGINE HITS YOUNG MAN

EDWARD ARMSTRONG FATALLY INJURED BY GREAT NORTHERN TRAIN TUESDAY

Young Man Survived by Wife and Child – Father Well-known Resident of Brush Prairie

Edward Armstrong, an employee of the American Signal company which is engaged in putting in the electric blocking system for the S. P. & S. contract, was fatally injured by a Great Northern passenger train Tuesday forenoon.  The young man was standing on a side track near the yard office when a switch engine approached him.  He stepped off the side track onto the main line not seeing the approaching passenger train.  The engine of the latter hit him and injured him internally and he died at St Joseph’s hospital this morning at 5 o’clock.

The deceased was 31 years old and is survived by a wife and one child.  He was the son of T. S. Armstrong of Brush Prairie (Fern Prairie).  He had been living for sometime in Fruit Valley.  Funeral arrangements have not been made yet.
