Thomas Edgar Polley

Thomas Edgar Polley, a brick mason, died at home Tuesday, June 23, 1998, of mesothelioma.  He was 70.

Born Feb. 25, 1928, in Evanston, Ill., Mr. Polley lived in Clark County most of his life.  He lived in Vanport, Ore., as a teenager.

He served on the Navy ship USS Barton in the Bikini Islands during atomic bomb testing.  He returned to Clark County in 1950.

Mr. Polley owned a race team and drove cars at the Portland Speedway.  He enjoyed the outdoors and working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, at home; his mother, Gertrud McNealy; four daughters, Glenda Thomas of Vancouver, Terrie Schafer and Vickie Hunter, both of Camas, and Kristi Belveal of Portland; one son, Thomas of Washougal; one brother, Carl of Camas; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas, with burial in Fern Prairie Cemetery.  The casket will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
