G. BASSETT DIES

Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Fern Prairie Man.

George Merry Bassett died Sunday at Russell’s sanitarium at the age of 75, from an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at Stoller’s chapel Wednesday afternoon.  Rev. Clemons officiated and music was by Mrs. Clemons.

Mr. Bassett was a retired salesman and had lived in Fern Prairie for the past 11 years.  He was born in Charleston, Iowa.

 Surviving him are four sons, Clarence H. and Herbert W. of Camas; Walter G. Boise, Idaho; and Everett H. Nampa, Idaho; one daughter, Mrs. Grave Moore, Bend Ore.; two brothers, Howard E. Long Beach, Calif., Allen of Charleston, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Cross of Wilder, Idaho.

NOTE:  A family researcher has advised, Mr. Bassett was a body guard at one time for President McKinley.  [The cemetery staff has not been able to find any listing of this but we leave this notation in hopes someone else can.]
