Obituary
Bates, Dossie – Age 64, Jan. 28, 1977, in Vancouver, Wash. Born April 16, 1912, in Bowie, Texas. Lived at 3230 G St., Washougal, Wash., for the past year, and was a former resident of Sunray, Tex. Retired smelter worker. Wife, Edith Bates, at home. Sons, Jimmy Smith of California and Eddie Bates of Washougal, Wash. Daughters, Mrs. Barbara Stump of Washougal; Eunice Welcher and Mrs. Mary Jo Batten, both of Camas, Wash.; Mrs. Vickie Sue Menefee of New Mexico. Sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Brothers, Wilson Bates, Johnny Bates and Claude Baes, all in Oklahoma. Sisters, Mrs. Bertha Lee and Mrs. Laura Puckett, both in Oklahoma, and Mrs. Ruth Wilson and Mrs. Jennie Townsend, both of California. Numerous nieces and nephews. Member of the Baptist Church. Funeral will be at Brown’s Stoller Memorial Chapel Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Layton Rogers officiating. Interment at Fern Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Brown’s Stoller Memorial Chapel.
